The teacher understands and uses a variety of instructional strategies to encourage learners to develop deep understanding of content areas and their connections, and to build skills to access and appropriately apply information.
In this assignment I was asked to create an informational sheet on one of many tested and researched based instructional strategies. With Maine Common Core Teaching Standard 8 Instructional Strategies as a guide I looked at driving questions. Understanding how driving questions are used in the classroom to engage and differentiate instruction, as well as management considerations.
There are many researched and tested instructional strategies at teachers disposal for differentiating instruction. These strategies help to adapt the information in lessons to better reach all students and keep the content engaging. As a teacher, my job is to find the best strategy to communicate the concepts of the standards. Driving questions is just one of many strategies that can help to encourage learners to go deeper and later apply the learned information in their own lives.
